Gimp 2.6 Released

Gimp development team has released Gimp 2.6, which was highly anticipated by the Gimp user community for quite sometime. Besides being a free ware, as it is primarily for the Linux platform, rather than Windows, which makes it Free as most of Linux Apps. it has also attained some features that might make Gimp more preferred with the Professionals and High end users. As the Gimp team states “GIMP 2.6 is an important release from a development point of view.”, So it has more of a professional's delight rather than a normal user like most of us.

So along with the minor tweaks in the overall package and some bug fixes, the most important development was the integration of GEGL, which actually is:

Graph based image processing library that will eventually bring high bit-depth and non-destructive editing to GIMP

So This would overall bring some features which would appeal to the Professionals along with a normal user who is actually looking for a free alternative to Adobe Photoshop.
