PDF becomes Open Standard

The most common format for electronics documents - Adobe pdf has become Open Standard. Adobe has given the copyrights of PDF to the ISO Standards, which means that Adobe has given the rights to develop the protocols of PDF to the ISO community.

The Portable Document Format (PDF) has been one of the most popular document formats for digital documents. it was developed by Adobe by with the growing demand for open standards Adobe has given the rights to ISO. On this context the CTO, Adobe - Kevin Lynch said :
By releasing the full PDF specification for ISO standardization, we are reinforcing our commitment to openness. As governments and organizations increasingly request open formats, maintenance of the PDF specification by an external and participatory organization will help continue to drive innovation and expand the rich PDF ecosystem that has evolved over the past 15 years.

Which means that PDF format would now be more open and with the protocols decided and recommended by the ISO committee, There can be far more support for the PDF document format and many applications might start supporting it.
