How to solve HPstatusBL.dll printer error on Windows 10

I recently uninstalled a HP deskjet 1010 printer from my laptop, which went as smooth as possible.
On my next boot, an error message popped up which showed that an HPstatusBL.dll was not found.

This was the exact error message.

There was a problem starting C:\Program Files\HP\HP Deskjet 1010 series\bin\HPStatusBL.dll

The specified module could not be found.

On clicking the OK button, the message goes away but the same mesage at every bootup is very annoying.

The culprit is a shortcut that has remained put even after uninstall and it gets called at every boot.

How to remove the HPstatusBL.dll error on Windows 10

  1. Go to the path location : C:\Users\\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Windows\Start Menu\Programs\Startup (replace with your desktop's. Or you can type AppData in run window (win + R) and navigate forward.
  2. Check for the shortcut - Monitor Ink Alerts - HP Deskjet 1010 series.lnk (look for the screenshot below)
  3.  Delete the shortcut and restart your PC. The error should be gone.

This method works with all the other printers also, not only the 1010 series. In case you are not on Windows 10, the same method will work on previous versions too. The file path may be different in those cases.

  18. HP should just sell printers and leave the programming to those who have intellect.
