We hate Spam as Much as you do

stop spam Of the late we have been facing quite some serious issues as far as spam on the Blog goes. there have been quite a few spam comments on the blog, and most of those are the ones clearly selling some vague products. Now each blog has a niche and as far as CorpseofAttic goes, we would stick to it, and would not tolerated any kind of spammy content on the Blog

Before posting comments please do read into the commenting policy of the Blog, and post relevantly. Post comments as you would like others to post on your Blog/website. Here are a few snapshots of those spam comments that I was talking about.

So Such kind of Comments would not be tolerated at any cost. Healthy discussions are always welcome and always appreciated. So let the comments flow in healthy and large.

  1. well it is now a nature with too many blogs around to spam. I was once having the other script installed (pligg) and heavily spammed ( I suppose it was auto-pligg) then I was force to shutdown it for a while and install wordpress. Fortunately, with akismet or defensio combined with spam karma, they will be gone

  2. Spams actually are a pain for any administrator... WordPress has too many plugins to get this off unlike Blogger.

  3. Well, the problem with spam is mostly due to lots of Seo Websites are offering link building thru comment spamming.

With so many clients to serve and money being the priority these seo guys spam blogs with irrelevant comments and make life of kind-to-link bloggers a mess.

But I also feel that spam has been relatively gotten lower these days because of better technology in place.

  6. Spam is terrible, you would not believe how many spam comments I receive daily on one of my blogs.

I wish I had some advice or a plugin to recommend to you but unfortunately I don't.

It would be great if you could tell me if you find something that works good.

  7. Nice examples. Like most any other blog owner, spam kind of comes with the territory, especially if you are a dofollow site. I love the great one line comments like "great article (even if it's not an article), "nice post", and the ever popular "great info". From a blog management perspective, the worst software ever invented is the auto-commenting jobs that randomly post some type of pre-loaded one line content all over the web. Askimet does a nice job of weeding some of these out, but I still have to do some manual work. I'm waiting for some really sharp developer to release a plug-in that does a better job of auditing spam.

  9. I'm surprised that anyone gets anywhere with spam commenting. There are tools to deal with it and most blog owners delete it. I very rarely see any span comments published on blogs.

Why do they still do it?

  10. Spam is a perrenial problem for all blog owners. I have a wordpress blog that I added spam-o-matic to. It even gives you the option of displaying how many where blocked. I like that in the sidebar. It shows people I am serious about getting nonsense and useless stuff like you mentioned. How about "LOL, that's very funny" "Great job, keep up the good work" "Good site, I've bookmarked you"

  14. No detail is needed ..I keep getting disgusting messages from porn sites and I am beginning to think Yahoo has no real control over this spam as I report at least 2 daily. It has gotten so bad I hate to even use the program!

  16. I suggest that everyone report them as scams or spams. JIC you don't have this info, here is where you can report these as well as going through your Yahoo email system.

  24. Hi Karaoke,

The comments have to be in sync with the post, and not copy paste stuff or irrelevant stuff. Any comments not complying to these are similar to spam.

Please dont comment just for being in Top commenter or trying to extract link love.

  25. The only kind of spam I like is the one that comes in a can lol, which you may or may not find odd. Regular spam... well that can really tick me off, however its ubiquitous when blogging etc online and such, and you just have to deal with it one way or another.

    Till then,

    Jean

  27. It is too bad that some people insist on abusing blog comments. They are obviously unqualified for their job and just doing what they heard works. Still it would be nice if they took the time to leave relevant, meaningful comments. Leaving irrelevant, generic comments wastes the blog owner's time and can lower the quality of a blog.
