Make Yahoo Messenger a MultiMessenger

As happens with many of us , we possess multiple yahoo IDs and each one for different reason. But when it comes to logging into yahoo Messenger we are left with no choice as we can't log into multiple yahoo accounts in Yahoo messenger simultaneously. So we have to take services of likes of Meebo of have to download external tools that when installed make yahoo function as a multi messenger.
But we have an easier remedy that can be used to make Yahoo messenger into a multi messenger without any external tool.


This is a plain trick that has been working for long and is still in use and can be used for any version of yahoo unlike external tools that are very version specific.
So what you have to do....

  1. Goto run by Start-> run or press windows key + R to enter run window.
  2. Type regedit in run window and press enter to enter Registry Editor
  3. In registry Editor goto HKEY_CURRENT_ USER\Software\yahoo\pager\Test
  4. Right Click Test field and select "new DWORD"
  5. Rename it plural and assign it a decimal value of 1
  6. Close Registry Editor

Refer to pic for details( I have already created the field named plural)
You are done... To check the functionality again open yahoo messenger and you will get a second Yahoo Messenger window to login... yay we are done...

but before leaving.. do we have to do this each and everytime we reinstall windows and reinstall Yahoo Messenger.. no.. make a backup of the edited registry field by right clicking on test field and selcting import -> save it as any name you wish and next time you install windows and messenger just run that saved registry file. Isn't it simple :D

    Yea, the Tip works with Yahoo Messenger 9 too which means it does not needs to be changed with every version of Yahoo Messenger. And as far as Link exchange goes, I do not do those. And the Links that you are seeing in my Blogroll are the ones which I sincerely follow . Hope You Don't get me wrong :)

    Fantastic stuff 10 on 10 , I have multiple yahoo ids and always hated to log into each to see for messaging or checking new mail.

    But u just made my job a lot easier. I never ever imagined that such thing is possible.
